I am a retired human resources manager and currently serve as the business manager for a local North American hockey league. A lifelong resident of Chippewa County, I’m the mother of two sons and grandmother to two, with one grandchild recently passed. I became involved with FAN after seeing the impact of substance use on my family—my son lost his job and sense of self, and we later lost my granddaughter to an overdose. Both were bright, capable young adults who were well-regarded in their workplaces and communities.
These experiences have shaped my commitment to FAN’s mission. If our efforts can help even one grandparent, parent, or child avoid the confusion and pain that come with these kinds of struggles, then everything we do here will be more than worth it.
